At the age of 7, a child is usually exposed to mundane worries of ‘homework & exams’ etc.. But Emmanuel was one of the Sudanese kids who was exposed to the civil war and had to see his father go away to fight with the Sudan Liberation People’s Army, see his village burn, see his friends and family including his mother die.
In the disguise of a school, the SLPA taught a bunch of kids how to ‘kill’ and ‘attack’ people. Wrong notions were fed into the brains of these little kids. AK47 was one of their ‘play toys’. They were taught all the wrong ways to survive. After five years of fighting for SLPA and killing people, Emmanuel realises that he is fighting not for freedom but for revenge cause of the hatred seed sown in him after seeing his people die. He escapes from his camp and is rescued by an aid worker.
Though the hatred and revenge is deep sown within him, Emmanuel has picked
